How we met
One summer day in San Francisco, Kari and Julie were both invited to a birthday party at Dolores Park by their mutual friend, Alex. They showed up separately, were introduced, and ended up talking the entire party. When the group continued the evening at a bar in the Mission, they both went. Eventually when the group parted ways, Kari asked Alex for Julie’s number.
And the rest was history.
The (First) Proposal
We were visiting Julie’s family cabin in Bear Valley with our dog Stevie. We decided to go on a hike at Inspiration Point, but as we got further into the hike, Julie realized she had taken us down the wrong trail for the last 20 minutes. We looped back and found the right trail that would take us to the top of the mountain.
Once we got to the top we took in the view while I (naturally) took some pictures. We were getting ready to walk back down when Julie said, “Oh, I almost forgot something!” and opened her backpack to pull out a ring. I had to remind her to ask the question and when she did I, of course, said yes.
The (Second) Proposal
Under the guise of a casual after-work Ocean Beach stroll with Stevie, Kari picked me up from work and drove the three of us to the beach. She had thoughtfully brought beers for us to drink on the walk.
On the walk, we talked about our lives and how excited we were to enter the next chapter together. Then, Kari said, “Hold my beer,” pulled out my Grandma Mary’s wedding ring, and returned the question. I, of course, said yes.
